What is vermeil?

Our vermeil jewellery is composed using a thick layer of 18 carat gold over sterling silver. Unlike gold plated items, vermeil jewellery must be coated with a minimum thickness of 2.5 microns of gold on sterling silver. This ensures that all our pieces are made entirely of precious metals and are of intrinsic value. Every Sia Shafer piece will bear the '925' mark to indicate the purity of sterling silver used and will be hallmarked by the British Assay Office where required by law. 

 

Why do you work with vermeil jewellery?

Because the nicest-looking things in life often come with a big price tag and we questioned why this was still the case in the 21st century. Our use of vermeil allows us to ensure that our pieces are attainable without compromising on quality and excellent craftsmanship whilst still delivering a luxury product. We want you to take jewellery seriously... just not too seriously. 

 

How can I check the status of my order?

Once your order has been placed, you will receive two emails. The first being a confirmation email which means that we have received your order and that payment has been accepted. The second being a shipping email which confirms that the pieces have been dispatched and this will contain a tracking number allowing you to trace your parcel. 

 

How can I ensure safe receipt of my order?

Given the value of each order, every single item delivered in the UK will be sent by Royal Mail and will require a signature on delivery. All deliveries are tracked and signed for. If nobody is in to sign for the parcel, the courier will leave a 'Something for you' card allowing you to make alternative arrangements. 

 

What delivery options are available?

UK Standard Delivery - within 4 working days, £4.95

UK Express Delivery - next working day, £7.95

Saturday or Preferred Day Delivery - £11.95 

Europe Delivery - within 4-6 working days, £10

Global Delivery - within 4-6 working days, £12

 

Can I change/cancel my order?

Provided that your order hasn't been dispatched, it can be amended or cancelled. Please note, this may not always be possible so it's always best to make contact with us immediately. To see what stage your order is at, please quote your order number when making contact with us. 

 

How can I use my promotional code?

We're a sucker for a good discount, so if you're one of the lucky few with a promotional code, you can enter this at the payment stage. Just remember to use the code in time to stay lucky. 

 

Do you ship overseas?

Can you engrave my jewellery?

At the moment? No. But we're working on it so watch this space.

How will my order be wrapped?

Each piece of jewellery will be presented in our signature Sia Shafer box coupled with a suede pouch allowing you to store your jewellery safely. 

 

Does Sia Shafer jewellery come with a guarantee?

Every single piece of Sia Shafer jewellery comes with a 1 year warranty. The guarantee period is a testament to the quality checks we have in place and the level of confidence we have in our artisan craftswomen who are the answer to all our jewellery prayers. So, if something doesn't look right and/or your order is not as expected, don't worry we've got you covered. Just drop us a line.
